I get a kick out of cliche lists. I like to satirize cliches, and these lists give me ideas to work with.

That being said, if your work is built around one of these cliches, it needs to redefine the cliche or satirize it.

what's everyone reading this month?

I just finished the lovely bones. A bit disappointed with the hum drum ending and the message ....well, read and see. I have a feeling many writers and most readers can identify with the message, but they might not want a character to abide by it in a novel. Most characters lives are just extreme enough to call for a strong ending to their story.

If you follow someone around for 300 or so pages, you want to see a resolution to their problems that has a bit more teeth.

Lycan Blood in Kindle « Cussedness' Weblog

Serpent’s Quest, volume 1 of my Lycan Blood series, is finally out in kindle editions.

It’s a bargain at $1 for novel that comes in around 125k words. That’s a whole lot of reading for a buck.

Book two in the series, Fireborn Law, is also out in the kindle edition.

And the makes things better, the third and fourth books in the series will be up by Monday.

Amazon now has a free software download that will allow you to read kindle books on your computer.

Steven Beeho sent it back to me, just chock full of lovely red ink. I like to see he's on the ball. I make a lot of typos, being dyslexic with short term memory problems, and he's watching my back. Bless him.

Our e zine is evolving, with a little help from our friends. Crystalwizard, of

Abandoned Towers.com has graciously supplied us with a new banner and has suggested the mag's new name:

Once More, With Feeling.

So far we have lined up stories from Crystalwizard, Janrae Frank and Eric S. Brown. We also have one interview and one book review planned.

We intend to launch in Mid January, at this time. In the Works, a new web site, url and a basic forum for authors and arists to gather.

Please make sure your work has been seen before. For the new authors out there, this means any print or electronic display that is open to the general public. If you blogged it or posted it in a forum that is not password protected, it has been published.

Please be aware that if you submit to this e zine and we publish it, it will count as the first rights of the piece. Why not try to submit your work elsewhere and get paid? Don't give away your first rights. A resale doesn't bring in near the payment that an original piece can.

We take only one time, non-exclusive electronic rights.

No pornography, graphic sex, hate messages, child abuse or graphic rape or abuse, please. Since this is a public forum, please try to keep it at least P.G. 13. There are a lot of kids out there cruising without adult supervision. If you cuss, please make it appropriate to the story/character, and keep it down to a mild roar. We are pretty easy-going her, but until I get a private web site I'd like to keep it so that a 13 year old could read it.

Word count for both fiction and nonfiction: 3,000 or less. Same for interviews and book reviews.

If you can't back up your nonfiction with links, it may be posted as an essay.

Any genre except erotica.

Artwork should include the a statement the sender has the right to publish it in this forum. This includes book covers, except where needed for book reviews.

No poetry that requires special formatting, please.

We try to reply within a month.

What do we mean by Hidden Treasures?

Literature you may not have seen. Short stories that have been published before, yet not recently. Books you might not have gotten your hands on. Essays on subjects you might not have thought of.

There is some wonderful work that you might be missing out on because the stories or articles came out when you were unaware of them, or because the author might have lacked the proper forum to display his/her work. I want to bring these back into the lime light, for you, for me, for anyone who believes that the value of a good piece of work doesn't fade only because of passing time.
